No fee or representation is final until approved by an attorney and set forth in a written engagement agreement, which controls.
Important: Initial retainers are not flat fees or caps on total fees and additional fees may be due. Court costs and other case expenses may be additional. Criminal fees shown apply to General Sessions Court only unless otherwise stated in the written engagement agreement.

How fee arrangements work.

The first conversation
During your free initial phone consultation, the attorney typically offers services on a flat fee or initial retainer arrangement. We then explain payment and the agreement for services.

Flat fee
A flat fee covers the attorney fees for the specific scope of work described in the written engagement agreement. If the matter changes, becomes contested or expands beyond that scope, a different fee arrangement may be required. Court costs and other third-party expenses may be separate.

Initial retainer
An initial retainer is an advance deposit against future attorney fees and is not a maximum fee or guaranteed total. Fees are billed against the retainer as work is performed, and additional amounts may become due as the case continues.
